Jazz at the Festival

Saturday 14th September

'The popular Blues Band 'The Jonah Band' have recently closed the World Stage at the Southampton Mela festival and have a following in Hampshire area. They regularly appear in local venues. A recent success was when they filled to capacity The Warsash Sailing Club as a guest band, with Pete Harris as a guest. Blues, R'n'B and other popular songs of a similar genre are their forte - come and rock with them

Monday 16th

As well as referencing the iconic mid 60’s Blue Note album “Out to Lunch” by Eric Dolphy, the name aptly describes the delicious and sociable lunches enjoyed by the band at pianist John Fisher’s house during their day long rehearsals.

Some rather idiosyncratic, lesser known pieces (as befits the Dolphy record) work their way into the band’s repertoire, but it’s mostly an entertaining and energetic mix of melodic and accessible tunes from some of the great jazz musicians and composers, as well as the American and Latin songbooks.

Tuesday 17th

Chris's Jazz Friends

We are a bunch of jazz musicians from north Hampshire playing hot and cool jazz tunes from the 50’s and 60s. We will be joined by the lovely vocalist Pauline Richings singing popular songs from the American songbook.

If you like what you hear, we play regularly from 8:00pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Sherborne St. John Social Club, Nr Basingstoke, RG24 9HP.
